Decathlon x Datadog: The Marathon Prep. of Observability
About this Session
How do you set reliability standards and build alignment at a massive scale? Decathlon has over 103k employees, localized e-commerce stores in 54 countries, 1902 physical stores worldwide, and over 700 projects across a global engineering organization. Without standardized observability as a core requirement, the teams faced dashboard fatigue and inconsistent SLAs that undermined platform reliability.
In this session, Gilles Di Guglielmo (Senior Staff Engineer) and Thomas Parle (Engineering Manager) will deep-dive into the technical journey of building and deploying the Decathlon observability maturity model. They’ll move beyond the theory to show how they codified observability into 5 incremental technical levels, from basic log aggregation and SLIs/SLOs to advanced distributed tracing and automated anomaly detection. They will share their key learnings for implementing observability at scale, and how they integrated and aligned e-commerce teams across Decathlon.
No matter where you are in your observability journey, you will walk away with an actionable roadmap for building a unified monitoring strategy that enables you to move beyond basic logging to analyzing end-to-end user journeys, and an understanding of the way ahead.
